Getting to the TRUTH about Freedom County

March 2010:  As more and more investors and residents of the Freedom Family Farm discover hidden truths, so rises the potential for an implosion of the Freedom County project.  Freedom County Sentinel will make our best effort to reveal the latest breaking news (and drama) from within the project.  Watch this page for coming news...
The following audio file is a recording of a general meeting (among residents) held at the FIND Family Farm on March 6, 2010. Run-time approximately 1 hour and 52 minutes. Last names have been redacted from the audio (*beep* sounds indicate edits to remove last names). Freedom County Sentinel has made no other edits to the audio.

Note: The resident who furnished the audio recordings on this page would have preferred to distribute them only within the FIND Family Farm community of residents; however, he has been removed from the project's Yahoo group discussion list and has now chosen to make them public.

Now, let's break things down for a better understanding...

The audio at left was recorded less than 1 hour before the general residents' meeting on March 6th. In this recording, Linda Hunnicutt questions some residents in the process of moving their belongings off the FIND Family Farm property, specifically a washing machine and dryer residents had purchased with the original intention of allowing shared use by the community. Hunnicutt is, in turn, confronted by a resident for having made false statements about having secured the financing contract for the acreage with the personal properties of herself and Dr Jack Pruett as collateral. Listen as she stands by her lies.

Excerpts from Linda Hunnicutt's emails to paid investors ('leaseholders') regarding the land's Ownership Status, Financing, and Collateral:

From Hunnicutt, Sept 28 2009, subject: UPDATE

"The weather is beautiful and the land has not lost it's charm and beauty. We are indeed lucky to have found this place even though it has it's downfalls as all land does. The neighbors are great, the nearest one came over to check us out and wound up offering to keep us in water by letting us pull the RV's up in his yard and using his garden hose plus charging all the cell phones. Now that is a good neighbor. Another one came and pulled out a stuck motor home with his tractor and has offered to help us start the farming as he farmed this very land for a few years.

In all it is a great feeling to know we are on our own land with good neighbors and getting better all the time."

From Hunnicutt, Nov 19 2009, subject: Gossip

"[Name Redacted] just wrote and said that two people have told her that the property is not paid for.?

Now I don't know who would know that but you can be sure I am not going to invest any of my money in something I could lose.

We put a big big down payment on the property, we also put up collateral to cover the cost of the property in case we could not make the payment at the end of the year. That is right. we have a year to raise the remaining money or else we lose our property but the land is secure. No one will lose their land or home except me and Jack. And then only if we do not sell enough home sites within that year to cover the payment.

The only ones that can lose are us the two of us. Not any of you guys. I hope that quells the gossip and speculation about that.. The property cost $630,000.00 and you can imagine how much we had to put down to get that deal.

Linda"

"Well, if we put a permanent structure on our lot, and you don’t raise the remaining money in a year, then we would lose that structure.

I’m assuming that you would give us refunds for our lots if you lost the property. Yes?

I’m not assuming this will happen, just want to clear up some confusion about how things are set up. I don’t believe the lease addressed any remedies for the lessee if you guys lost the property. My parents were under the impression (based on a comment you made the day it closed) that they land was completely paid for in cash.

This does change my view on what to put on our lot…at least until the land is paid for.

"you did not read the message: the land is secure. If we don't make the payment our property * our private property that we own ourselves* will be taken as payment in full. The collateral will be taken not the property in Texas.

I have no fear of losing anything as the economy becomes even more insecure and the government continues to become more and more fascist people will be searching for a haven to gather together. Our only problem will be who we accept. So far we have made some blunders in choices but from last month on we are running more complete background checks on everyone we allow to join us. I think that will save us a lot of problems like we have had with a couple of residents."

From Hunnicutt, Dec 5 2009, subject: Re: Happy Thanksgiving Freedom Family!

"[Name Redacted], for one thing the incorporation is in Ar. because that is the cheapest state to incorporate in, and yes the corporation is legal in Texas. Call your state Attorney to find out. The land* is* paid for, it will never be in default, that was one of my main concerns when I started this, I could not in good conscience ask people to leave their homes and invest not only their money but time in something that had a even small chance of being foreclosed on. That was the reason for collecting the funds before hand, we did collect a considerable amount of money to pay towards this property, Jack put in $100,000.00 cash of his own money, I put in what we have collected plus another $67,000.00 of our own money, that was my retirement in case you would like to know.. then we made arrangements with the land owner to pay for the balance in one year. That is covered by collateral put up by myself and Jack so if the funding is not there or if the banks fail and money is worthless ( yes we thought of this also) the land would be free and clear in 2010."

In this audio clip from the FIND Family Farm general residents' meeting on March 6th, a resident speaks up about seeing emails on the group's discussion list indicating (falsely) that the financing for the land had been collateralized.

The recording at left is an excerpt of the general residents' meeting held on March 6th. In this audio, Dr. Jack Pruett explains that NO collateral was used to secure the financing for the FIND Family Farm property.

The recording at left is an excerpt of the general residents' meeting held on March 6th. In this audio, LINDA HUNNICUTT ADMITS TO LYING ABOUT THE COLLATERAL, but claims she thought she had put her property up as collateral when entering the contract to purchase the land -- by assuming that was what the paperwork she filled out was for. So... rather than having a reputation as a known LIAR, it seems Linda Hunnicutt would rather be viewed as INEPT -- and INCOMPETENT to represent a group of families in any business dealings. WOULD YOU ASSUME ANYTHING WHEN SIGNING PAPERWORK TO TAKE OUT A 1/2 MILLION DOLLAR LOAN?

[March 9, 2010] The following is an open letter from a couple of investors in the Freedom County (Freedom Family Farm) project.

Freedom residents and LINDA,

There are some things that I feel I should clear the air about concerning why we left the farm and removed our belongings. First of all before we ever went to the "Farm" we had questions that we felt we could only get answers to if we were there. We went to observe and to learn, to see for ourselves, not so much to "ask" but to get the answers by observing. Much to our dismay, the first thing that we learned was it did not seem to be the "one big happy family atmosphere" that one would get the impression of just by reading the posts.

It was apparent to us that one particular person talked about everyone behind their backs and never had anything to good to say about anyone. We felt certain that she would do the same thing to us and was rather bothered by that. We are not the type of people to form an opinion of anyone or anything based on what someone else says, our opinion is based completely on what we see and hear for ourselves, but we do not judge anyone.

Another thing:
We were under the assumption that there was a wellhead or some other means already on the property to pipe water to our lots once we selected them, but there was no wellhead or other means, but John was in the process of drilling for water and did not seem to be having a very easy time of it either. It is our opinion that it was not his responsibility and that it should have already been done before even he got there according to what we read on the Freedom Is Not Dead.org site where and when we decided to lease our 2 lots for $1000 each.

The next thing I want to address is the situation concerning our storage building being broken into and the conversation between Linda and myself the day after we got it moved here where we are. On Sunday Feb.14th, we received a phone call from Dee asking us if that was our storage building at the farm and was the door supposed to be open. I told her it was our building and no, the door was supposed to be shut and locked. She told us that she and Tommy had gone out there to check on everyone and they noticed the door banging back and forth in the wind, but Tommy had shut and locked the door.  She said that they had asked some of the people there who the building belonged to and someone had told her that they thought it was ours. So she called us to make sure and to let us know about the door.
